Have you heard about the Route of Emotions?

This route connects three wonderful tourist destinations in the northeast of Brazil: the National Park of "Lençóis Maranhenses" (in Maranhão state), the Environmental Protection Area of Delta Parnaíba (between Maranhão and Piauí states), and the National Park of Jericoacoara (in Ceará state). It is a perfect destination for people that like ecotourism, adventure, beach, culture and good gastronomy.

Lençóis Maranhenses

In Portuguese, it literally means “bedsheets of Maranhao”. At first glance Lençóis Maranhenses seems to be a desert, however it is not. The region is subject to a regular rain season from January to May. The rains cause a peculiar phenomenon: fresh water collects in the valleys between sand dunes and is prevented from percolating down by a layer of impermeable rock which lies underneath the sand. As a result, amazing lagoons are surrounded by the desert-like sand, and reach their fullest from June to September.

Delta Parnaiba

The Parnaíba is one of the few rivers in the world with mouth open sea delta, formed by the River Parnaíba, which is 1485 km length, the Delta opens into five arms, with 73 river islands, their lush, full of dunes, mangroves and river islands, idyllic setting ensures that region of Maranhão and Piauí.

Jericoacoara

Jericoacoara is a small fishing village, an amazing place for windsurfing and kitesurfing, in Ceará state. It is located 300 km western of Fortaleza. Local people say Jeri, as it is better known. This is a fantastic place where you can relax, forget all the noises from the big cities and enjoy the nature.
